Think of the environment when it comes to our pets

We can really make a lot of trash when we're taking care of our dogs. I decided to come up with a list of some ways to stay green with your pooch.
1. Scoop the poop. Many dog lovers use plastic bags to pick up their dog's waste when they're out on a walk or in the backyard. All that trash adds up over time. Consider using a poop scooper that doesn't require the use of a plastic bag. You can also use a biodegradable bag that breaks down naturally over time without adding to landfills.
2. Reuse when possible. When you're out on a walk with your dog, how about taking a refillable water bottle instead of using a new one each time? If you're crafty you can turn old human sweatshirts into cozy little ones for your furry friend during cold winters, or repurpose sturdy comforters into dog beds.
3. Know your dog's needs. If your dog is rough on chew toys, don't keep buying him soft plush toys that get shredded and tossed within minutes. Buy good quality toys that are designed for the type of play your dog favors. They'll last longer, create less trash, and save you money.
Many pet product manufacturers are trying to become more eco-friendly with their items as well. Check out a product's label to see if they use recycled materials or donate to pet-related charities.
